NEW DELHI, July 24 (Xinhua) -- India has seen an increase in the number of sick leaves claimed by pilots since the June 12 air crash took place.
A total of 112 pilots have since asked for leave calling themselves sick, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol told the parliament on Thursday.
In a written reply to a question raised by a federal lawmaker, the minister said that out of the pilots who asked for sick leave, 61 were senior pilots and the rest 51 were flight officers.
In one of the worst air crashes in Indian history, the London-bound flight AI-171 crashed immediately after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport in India's western state of Gujarat. ■
