SYDNEY, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Australia's most promising young boxer, Tim Tszyu, claimed his first Australian title on Wednesday night, defeating Joel Camilleri to claim the super welterweight belt by unanimous decision.

The 24-year-old, son of former light welterweight world champion Kyosta, went ten rounds with his opponent at Sydney's Star City Casino, taking his record to 13-0 with ten by knockout.

"It's a significant step in my career to defeat the Australian champion," Tszyu said after the fight.

"I got to test myself and learnt more about not just myself but about my soul and my heart."

During the second round Tszyu was cut underneath his left eye by a right hook but went on to land enough clean blows to make him the clear winner.

Two of the judges scored the fight 99-91 to Tszyu, while the third scored 98-92.

"Tim is now rated No.15 in the world by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) and after tonight's performance he'll climb in the world ratings," Tszyu's promoter Matt Rose told reporters.

Rose said the list of potential follow up opponents for Tszyu included IBF No.12 Dwight Ritchie, Michael Zerafa, who Tszyu replaced in the WBA ratings, and former welterweight world champion Jeff Horn.
