YANGON, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar police have seized 9.25 million stimulant tablets and 22 kg of heroin in central Myanmar's Sagaing and Mandalay regions, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported late Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police intercepted two vehicles in Sagaing town of Sagaing region on July 7 and confiscated 5.25 million stimulant tablets and 22 kg of heroin, the CCDAC said. Three suspects were arrested from the two vehicles, it added.
Following the seizure, the police arrested another suspect who had arranged to transport the seized drugs at a guest house in Kyaukse town of Mandalay region on July 8, it said.
Two more suspects in connection with the case were also arrested in Chanmyathazi town of Mandalay, along with 4 million stimulant tablets, it added.
Investigation showed that the narcotics were being transported from Mongyai town in Shan state to Kalay town in Sagaing region, it said.
The suspects have been charged under the country's laws, and further investigations are underway, the report added. ■
