JERUSALEM, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli-U.S. startup company Zone7, which developed software for predicting sports injuries, announced on Wednesday that it had raised 2.5 million U.S. dollars from investors, including Jordi Cruyff, Dutch manager of soccer Chinese Super League club Chongqing Lifan.

Jordi, former player and the son of the late soccer legend Johan Cruyff, was the sport director and coach of Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2012-2018.

Another investor in the current raising round, led by the U.S. firm Resolute Venture, is the Latvian NBA star Kristaps Porzingis of the Dallas Mavericks.

Porzingis is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, so he was interested in investing in the company.

The software developed by Zone7 can collect data on professional athletes from any possible source, including sensors attached to athletes, nutrition data and training times and then predict when and whether the athlete is about to be injured.

Zone7 claims to have 80 percent success in reduction of injury days-out, 75 percent reduction in injury rates and 95 percent of accuracy.

The company was established in Israel in 2017 and located in the coastal city of Tel Aviv and in Palo Alto, San Francisco.

The company's clients include soccer clubs from Spain, England and Israel, as well as teams in several sports in the U.S.
